The driver of a cargo van has been sent to hospital with life threatening injuries, following a collision with a tractor trailer on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.&nbsp;

Chatham-Kent OPP say it happened Monday at about 2:30 a.m. in the Highgate&nbsp;Road area.&nbsp;

As a result of the collision, the cargo van rolled and landed in a ditch.&nbsp;

The Ontario government said today that it would invest $67.8 million in installing concrete median barriers and new lanes on a stretch of highway from Tilbury to Merlin Road in Chatham-Kent known as "Carnage Alley."

Advocates say that a concrete barrier is the only way to protect people from crossover collision on Highway 401 between Tilbury and London.

Advocates have long called for concrete barriers on the 401 median between London and Tilbury.

Traffic reconstruction officers are working to determine what caused the collision.&nbsp;
