Laurie St-Georges and Felix Asselin defeated Chelsea Carey and Colin Hodgson 6-5 in the Brantford Mixed Doubles Curling Classic final on Sunday in Brantford, Ont.
But both teams had reason to celebrate, having qualified for the final spots at the Canadian mixed doubles Olympic curling trials in Portage la Prairie, Man., later this month.

The event will take place from Dec. 28 to Jan. 2 at Stride Place, with 16 duos competing for the chance to represent Canada at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
The field will include Kerri Einarson and Brad Gushue, who won gold at the 2021 Home Hardware Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship in March.
