Grieving family of teen stabbed to death speaks out

The father of a young man stabbed to death during a party last weekend is hoping the tragedy will reinforce the need to prevent violent crimes.
Misha Pavelick, 19, was killed at a May long weekend party near Regina Beach.
On Thursday, Pavelick's family members spoke with reporters about their loss.
His father Lorne Pavelick said the most important message he wants conveyed is that communities need to get together and find new ways to discourage heinous crimes.
"We can't lose any more kids like this," he said. "There are people walking around out there with weapons. Those things have really really bothered me a lot these last couple of days. It's just the violent nature of my son's death."
Pavelick said Misha had a bright future. He had enrolled in a technical school and wanted to become a plumber and a pipe fitter.
The funeral service for Misha Pavelick will be held this weekend.
"Believe me, this is not what you want to have happen in your lives," Lorne Pavelick said. "You don't want to have to look for a casket for your child."
Meanwhile, the family of the 18-year-old man who was injured trying to break up the fight during the party says he is recovering.
He is out of intensive care following surgery.
His mother said her son has always been the first to jump in and help and she is proud of him.
