Police say they recovered body from inside a car Sunday
An RCMP underwater rescue team located a body Sunday after a car drove off a ferry that was not in operation and into the water at the Gondola Point ferry terminal in the Kingston Peninsula.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Jeff Johnston said the body was found inside the car at about 3 p.m. It is believed the person was the only occupant of the vehicle.
He said there is an ongoing investigation and there is no more information available at this point.
According to the RCMP, first responders attended a call that a vehicle had driven off one of the ferries and into the water before 9 p.m. Saturday.
The ferry service was shut down Saturday and Sunday due to an ongoing strike by some CUPE workers in the province.
