The Mont Cascades waterpark in Cantley, Que., was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a man allegedly pointed a suspected long gun at an employee of the popular summer attraction, police said.

About a dozen police officers blocked roads around the perimeter of the waterpark — which doubles as a ski hill in the winter — as they searched for two suspects, Sgt. Dominic Robitaille of the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais police told reporters.

Robitaille said police received a 911 call around 4 p.m. reporting that two men were seen near a slide in the park, one of whom was pointing what looked like a rifle at a young woman. Witnesses told police the two men left after pointing the gun at the employee, he said.

No shots were fired and no one is injured. Police don't know if the gun is real or a replica.

Robitaille said officers have a description of one of the men involved, but they are unsure if it is of the man who was holding the gun.

The description is of a white male between the ages of 30 to 40 years old. The suspect has brown or black hair, a dark complexion and a beard, according to the police description. He was wearing green camouflage-style shorts, a blue T-shirt and was speaking English.

Shortly after 8 p.m., Robitaille said police had reopened roads in the area and called off the search. Officers hadn't found either of the two men when night began to fall, but the investigation continues.
