Ontario provincial police (OPP) says it laid more charges at a Tillsonburg, Ont., golf course that reopened a week ago despite the provincewide lockdown.
The Bridges at Tillsonburg golf club was first charged Thursday for not complying under the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA), which currently prohibits outdoor recreational activities including golfing.
As of Saturday morning, OPP pressed additional charges including two counts of failing to comply with the ROA, as a result of their ongoing investigation.
Five patrons at the golf course were also charged with failure to comply, police say.
Despite the charges, the golf club's website is still open for tee time bookings. As a corporation charged under the act, it faces a fine of up to $10-million if convicted.
"The OPP is requesting that businesses and members of the public voluntarily comply with the government-mandated shutdown and the stay-at-home order," the provincial police force said.
Representatives of the golf course have been asked to appear in court in Woodstock on June 3.
