Six Nations residents 18 and older can get Moderna vaccine

The territory said on Sunday it received 6,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine

COVID-19 vaccine bookings are now open for everyone 18 years of age and older in Six Nations of the Grand River.
The territory said on Sunday it received 6,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine and can accept people who book an appointment.
Appointments can be booked online(external link) or by calling 226-227-9288 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon during the weekend.
Indigenous communities across the country have grappled with vaccine hesitancy due to a history of abuse, mistreatment and experimentation at the hands of Canadian institutions.

Ohsweken Public Health is reporting 1,133 people have received one dose of vaccine and 128 people have been fully vaccinated. There are also 588 people booked to get their vaccine.
Six Nations of the Grand River has recorded 11 active cases of COVID-19 as of Friday. There are two variants of concern.
There have been 437 total cases, and 418 are resolved. Eight people have died.
Two people with the virus are in hospital.
