What's the latest in the London region?

The Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU) posted 29 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the highest single-day count since mid-February.
The seven-day rolling average for daily cases is trending upward to 19.
There were no new deaths reported Thursday. The health unit reported 17 recoveries. There are now 158 known active cases in the region, a 38 per cent increase since last week.

The province is expected to announce whether Middlesex-London with stay in the orange zone of their response framework, or move to another level on Friday.
There were two new cases reported at area schools, including one case at John P Robarts Public School and Wilberforce Public School.
There are three ongoing outbreaks at St. Mark Catholic School, Sir Arthur Carty Catholic School and Bonaventure Meadows Public School.
London Health Sciences Centre is reporting six cases of COVID-19 among inpatients and fewer than five in intensive care. There are fewer than five staff who have tested positive for the virus.

COVID-19 across the region and beyond

Southwestern Public Health reported six new cases and seven recoveries Thursday. There are now 42 known active cases in the region of Elgin-Oxford, including 13 in Aylmer, nine in Woodstock and two in St. Thomas.
Five new cases were identified by Huron Perth Public Health, all in Stratford. That region has 20 known active cases.
Meanwhile, Ontario reported another 1,092 cases of COVID-19 and 10 additional deaths.
A record number of vaccine doses were administered Wednesday, with 40,610 shots given. There have now been over 281,000 people across Ontario who have had both shots of the vaccine.
The most recent vaccine data from the MLHU shows an average of nearly 1,400 doses being administered daily. There have been 43,074 shots given as of March 7.
