COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know Friday

Province expects to receive at least 600,000 vaccine doses in March
- Quebec reported 815 new cases on Friday and 11 more deaths.
- Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 286,145 confirmed cases and 10,372 people have died.
- There are 620 people in hospital (a decrease of 13), including 119 in intensive care (a decrease of three).
- 12,038 doses of vaccine were administered on Wednesday. A total of 400,540 doses have been administered since Dec. 14.
With more than 100,000 people 85 and up already registered for a vaccine across the province, Montreal public health have now made reservations available for residents 80 and over.
Those accompanying patients to vaccine sites may be vaccinated at the same time if they are 70 or over, and in the presence of the patient at least three days per week.
COVID-19 vaccinations in the general population are underway in Laval, and people in Montreal will get the shot starting Monday.
For the rest of the province, including the Montérégie and Quebec City regions, vaccines will be administered the following week.

Meanwhile, March break is here, and as of today, cinemas as well as indoor pools and rinks are allowed to reopen in the province's red zones.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
- Fever.
- New or worsening cough.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.
- Gastrointestinal issues (such as nausea, diarrhea).
If you think you may have COVID-19, the government asks that you call 1‑877‑644‑4545 to schedule an appointment at a screening clinic.Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:- Wash your hands frequently.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Wear a mask or face covering when physical distancing is not possible. Wearing a mask is mandatory in enclosed public spaces across the province.
- Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
- Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
