A&nbsp;Tuesday evening house fire off Highway 6 in the community of&nbsp;Malagash on Nova Scotia's north shore&nbsp;has claimed the life of an 89-year-old man.

Police responded to the fire at 7:39 p.m. and found the man dead inside the home, according to an RCMP news release.

A 70-year-old woman was found outside the house and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.&nbsp;

The fire marshal&nbsp;and RCMP are investigating the cause of the fire but do not believe it to be suspicious at this time.

All schools closed in metro St. John's until Feb. 26 as COVID-19 outbreak swells

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District is suspending in-class instruction for all schools in the St. John’s metro area — as well as Bell Island, Mobile and Witless Bay — along with extracurricular activities for all schools across the province.

The NLESD says about 7,200 high schoolers will be going to school Monday.

Discount airline Flair announces expansion into Maritimes

Flair Airlines will offer service to the Maritimes this spring and summer, the discount carrier announced Wednesday.
