Police say the driver wasn't speeding or impaired, and is cooperating with investigators
Hamilton police are investigating after an 80-year-old man was hit in Hamilton's lower city on Saturday and died the next day of his injuries.
Police say the man was crossing "without the right of way" at a crosswalk at Main Street East and Tisdale Street South just after 6 p.m. on Jan. 9.
A car heading east on Main Street hit him, police said in a media release. A 29-year-old Hamilton man was driving, police say, and he remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital and died early Sunday morning.
Police say speed, impairment and distraction weren't factors with the driver. The collision reconstruction unit is investigating.
Anyone who saw the crash and hasn't spoken with investigators should call 905-546-4753 or 905-546-4755.
