The Quebec government has unveiled the details of stricter lockdown measures coming into effect Saturday in an effort to contain the soaring number of COVID-19 cases.
Premier François Legault announced a curfew will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Grocery stores and depanneurs will have to close at 7:30 p.m. Fines for breaking curfew will range from $1,000 to $6,000.
The province also announced a more detailed schedule for vaccinations.
Meanwhile, residents at the Maimonides Geriatric Centre in Côte Saint-Luc have launched legal action against the province, demanding they receive their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine within 72 hours.
They say the government's decision to delay their second shots in order to provide a first dose to as many people as possible is a breach of contract.
