Quebec registered more than 2,300 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend

  • Quebec reported 1,038 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths on Monday, as well as four deaths that occurred at an earlier date. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 94,429 confirmed cases in the province and 6,044 people have died.

Hundreds of union members with the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec say the pandemic is putting a strain on the health-care system and they want better working conditions.
Quebec reported more than 1,000 cases again on Monday. There are 92 people in intensive care.
Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé announced on Twitter Monday that Joliette, and much of the surrounding area, will be classified as "red zones" beginning Wednesday at midnight.
That means bars and restaurant dinning rooms will have to close and high-school students will have to wear masks while in class.
"In certain parts of the Lanaudière region, we're seeing an increase in community transmission, and we have to take the necessary measures to reduce the spread," Dubé said in a statement.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Fever.
  • New or worsening cough.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.
  • Gastrointestinal issues (such as nausea, diarrhea).

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Wear a mask or face covering when physical distancing is not possible. Wearing a mask is mandatory in enclosed public spaces across the province.
  • Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
  • Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
