Students will move to online learning from Oct. 13 to Oct. 21
Father Vachon School in Saskatoon is temporarily closing this week, after being informed of a positive COVID-19 case at the school.
Students will move to online learning starting Tuesday until next Wednesday, according to a news release from Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS).
The Saskatchewan Health Authority alerted the elementary school to the case on Monday. It said the individual who tested positive was in multiple locations throughout the school and had multiple touch points with equipment and supplies.
The SHA said it is in the early stages of contact tracing.
Father Vachon School caretaking staff are also set to do a deep clean of the building, according to GSCS.
The school is working with public health to inform parents and caregivers about the positive test. It is also assessing what needs to be done to provide children with the technology they need to learn online.
GSCS urges students and families to be diligent in self-monitoring for symptoms, stay home if they're feeling sick and call HealthLine 811 if they have any COVID-19 symptoms.
