Some P.E.I. communities set heat records on Tuesday.

St. Peters, Stanhope, Charlottetown, Summerside and North Cape reached record temperatures for a Sept. 29.

It was the second-straight record-setting day for Stanhope, which hit 25.3 C Monday and 26.2 C Tuesday.

Stanhope, P.E.I., broke its daytime high record for Sept. 28 when it reached 25.3 C in the North Shore community Monday.

St. Peter's had the highest temperature on P.E.I. Monday.

Tuesday also marked the 97th time this year that a temperature at or above 20 was reported at Charlottetown airport.&nbsp;The 30-year average is 79 days per year.

Temperatures are forecast to remain well above normal into Saturday.

P.E.I. gift cards in high demand on 1st day of sales to public

 A P.E.I. gift card program aimed at supporting the Island tourism industry had a successful first day, with some retailers selling up to 40 per cent of their stock in the morning alone.
