A man is in critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in downtown Winnipeg overnight, police say.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near Portage Avenue and Colony Street at 12:42 a.m. Saturday, said a spokesperson for the City of Winnipeg, which oversees the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.
The man was in critical condition as of late Saturday morning, said an officer with the Winnipeg Police Service's duty office, which is responsible for media inquiries when the public information office is closed.
A white car with a damaged front end was towed from the median on Portage Avenue around 8 a.m. Saturday.
Earlier Saturday morning, yellow evidence markers sat on top of the car and on the ground around it.
