The second annual FOLD Kids Book Fest will take place Oct. 3-4, 2020. There will be bonus preview events on Sept. 26, Oct. 1 and Oct. 2.
The FOLD Kids Book Fest, like its parent festival, spotlights work by diverse authors from communities that are typically underrepresented in Canadian publishing.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival will be virtual, featuring events with Canadian authors, illustrators and performers, including Jillian Tamaki, David A. Robertson and Buffy Sainte Marie.
The lineup of events for 2020 includes writing and illustration workshops, celebration of Indigenous picture books, poetry for kids and a environmentalism rally.
"The collection of authors we have at FOLD Kids Book Fest 2020 this year makes me incredibly excited as I think about the people and places young people, families and educators will get to know," FOLD founder and executive director Jael Richardson said in a press release.
The FOLD Kids Book Fest events are free to attend, but registration is required. You can see the schedule at the FOLD Kids website.(external link)
