Unidentified human remains have been found in the woods in southern Manitoba.

The Manitoba First Nations Police Service got a call on Tuesday about the remains&nbsp;in a wooded area near Roseau River Anishinaabe&nbsp;First Nation, roughly 80 kilometres south of Winnipeg.

Manitoba Search and Rescue did a thorough search of the area on Wednesday, RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

The First Nations Police and RCMP are investigating, along with the Chief Medical Examiner's Office.

Manitoba judge now sitting after judicial body concludes investigation

An investigation into a Manitoba judge by the province’s judicial oversight body has been resolved, but court officials won’t say anything about what they found.

More details on Manitoba’s back-to-school plan are set to be released at a news conference on Thursday with provincial Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin, and Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen.

Parents worry that schools will expose families to hundreds of people and could endanger grandparents.

Manitoba has not yet mandated masks for students returning to school, though Health Minister Cameron Friesen said the province was considering the step last week — and at least one school division said it is looking into getting its own protective gear.

RCMP and the Manitoba First Nations Police Service are investigating.
