A 61-year-old man is dead following a motorcycle collision in North River Monday afternoon.

Colchester County District RCMP say they responded to an accident on Highway 311&nbsp;around 2:45 p.m.

RCMP say the motorcycle went off the road and struck a pole. The driver was&nbsp;pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Former Halifax teacher gets 15 years in prison for historical sex offences

A former Halifax-area school teacher and coach who pleaded guilty to dozens of historical sex charges involving 34 victims has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Justice Jamie Campbell delivered his decision in the case of Michael Patrick McNutt, 67, in Nova Scotia Supreme Court Tuesday morning.
