The NHL is reporting that no player tested positive for COVID-19 over the final week of training camps.

The league said in a release Monday that 4,256 tests were administered to more than 800 players during the seven-day period from July 18-25.

It's move-in day for NHL players in Toronto and Edmonton. Twenty-four teams are scheduled to enter bubbles in the two Canadian cities today in advance of the league's restart.

Players and staff will check in to four hotels in Edmonton and two in Toronto, including The Royal York, seen above as a bus arrived on Sunday, where they will be separated from the general public for the NHL restart.

Blake Wheeler and the Jets practice in Winnipeg one last time Sunday morning and then embark for the Alberta capital for an undetermined time period. The longer they stay, the deeper their run in the chase for a Stanley Cup title.

The NHL had announced two positive cases from July 13, when Phase 3 of the league's return-to-play plan commenced with the start of training camps, through July 17. The league said it administered 6,874 total tests during Phase 3.

Players arrive in hub cities ahead of NHL playoffs

The excitement is growing for the return of the NHL season, especially in the two hub cities of Toronto and Edmonton where players and staff have started arriving under strict measures to avoid bursting the NHL’s bubble.

All 24 teams entered the secure zones in the hub cities of Edmonton and Toronto on Sunday to start Phase 4 of the plan.

Each team will play on one exhibition game between Tuesday and Thursday before the best-of-five playoff qualifying series start Saturday.

The NHL suspended its season March 12 due to the spread of the global pandemic.
