Police are investigating a car crash early Thursday morning near New Glasgow, N.S., where one woman died and two other people were taken to hospital.

Shortly after 1:35 a.m., Pictou County RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Egypt Road in Hillside, which is about five kilometres north of New Glasgow.

According to an RCMP news release, a vehicle left the roadway and overturned.&nbsp;

One woman died at the scene. Two other occupants, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Egypt Road was closed in both directions from Pictou Landing Road to the west and Old Glenfalloch Road to the east. It reopened around 6 a.m.

An RCMP&nbsp;collision analyst was on scene.

Kentville will consider whether to restrict municipal candidates to six signs apiece, while Yarmouth has changed its land-use bylaws to outright ban them ahead of municipal elections scheduled for October.

'Go home!': Nova Scotian plate-shamed for having Ghostbusters novelty plate

Benjamin Hebb has a Nova Scotia plate on the back of his vehicle, but a plate on the front says "ECTO-1 NEW YORK" and is a replica of the one found on the ambulance/hearse in the film. Someone who either doesn't like Ghostbusters or didn't get the reference left him a note under his wiper on Wednesday.

Bridgewater, N.S., resident Benjamin Hebb found the note under the windshield wiper of his vehicle. While the back of his vehicle has a Nova Scotia licence plate, he has a fake plate on the front that is a replica of the one found on the ambulance/hearse used in Ghostbusters.

N.S. judge considers childhood trauma in sentencing man who pulled gun on officer

A Nova Scotia judge has sentenced a man who pointed a gun at a police officer to five years in prison, saying his troubled upbringing and him taking responsibility for the incident were mitigating factors in the sentencing.

Musician J.P. Cormier to launch lawsuit over lack of rural high-speed internet access

Nova Scotia singer-songwriter J.P. Cormier intends to launch a lawsuit against Develop Nova Scotia, the province and the Halifax Regional Municipality over the lack of high-speed internet access in his community of Cooks Brook.
