A motorcycle driver is dead after a serious crash Thursday morning in Winnipeg.

The bike collided with a&nbsp;car just before 4 a.m. at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Salter Street, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release.

The motorcyclist was taken in critical condition to hospital and later died.

No information about the age or gender of the motorcyclist is available at this time.&nbsp;

Investigators remain at the crash scene and ask&nbsp;drivers to avoid the area.&nbsp;Jefferson is closed from Powers Street to Aikins&nbsp;Street.

The traffic collision unit is investigating.

Judge orders city to refund millions of dollars in impact fees to Winnipeg developers, homeowners

A Manitoba judge is ordering the City of Winnipeg to refund millions of dollars it collected in recent years through impact fees it imposed on developers, builders and homeowners in new residential developments at the outskirts of the city.

Face masks will be mandatory at Brandon airport starting Friday

Passengers are already required to wear masks on flights, but now everyone in the Brandon terminal will have to wear one. The same change could also be on the way for Winnipeg's airport, a spokesperson said.

WestJet will offer seven flights a week between Brandon and Calgary this summer, down from 10 flights per week.

The policy change is part of the City of Brandon's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and was needed as the airport gets busier, the city says.
