We're excited to highlight all the great work that continues to happen in the city
We have all been settling into different versions of a "new normal" for months now. That means our CBC Edmonton hosts haven't been able to do a part of the job they love: spending time with Edmontonians at community events.
We're excited to get back out there to highlight all the great work that continues to happen in the city.
To keep in touch with the community, Tara McCarthy organized a letter writing campaign for various seniors homes around the city. There are many people in Edmonton who aren't able to see their friends and family like they used to, so Tara and other CBC Edmonton hosts wrote cards to them, to say hello, check in and connect:
Volunteer knitters are continuing to put in hours and hours creating special pieces for newborns, new Canadians, and others in need in our community. Nancy Carlson visited the North Edmonton Seniors Association...and did a special delivery:
Adrienne Lamb, host of CBC's Our Edmonton, pitched in to help local community groups clean up the streets over the May long weekend:
Edmonton AM host, Mark Connolly hosted the CODEVID-19 Hackathon final awards presentation. More than 1,800 people from all over the world participated in this event.
Radio Active's Rod Kurtz spent a few hours volunteering at Edmonton's Food Bank.
Mark Connolly, spent an afternoon delivering food with Meals on Wheels. If you don't know already, Meals on Wheels is a local non-profit that provides home-delivered meal and food services to Edmontonians in need.
We're excited to continue to support Edmonton over the coming weeks. To see our hosts in action, stay in touch via CBC Edmonton's social media pages.
