A person in their 80s who lived at Greenwood Court in Stratford, Ont. has died of COVID-19, according to Huron Perth Public Health.&nbsp;

The individual&nbsp;became sick with COVID-19 symptoms on April 3, the health unit said in a release on Saturday.

There are six confirmed cases in residents at the home as well as five cases in staff, public health said.

Medical officer of health&nbsp;Dr. Miriam Klassen&nbsp;said in the release that all the residents with the virus are being cared for at the home and none have been taken to hospital. The health unit said it's&nbsp;working with officials at the home on infection control measures.

Two people living at the Greenwood Court long-term care home in Stratford have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Huron Perth Public Health.

The province stopped visitation to long-term care facilities earlier in the month of March.

"We know how serious this infection can be for our vulnerable populations, including our seniors in long-term care homes and in those with underlying health conditions," Klassen said.

There is also one case of COVID-19 at Hillside Manor near Sebringville, public health noted.

One resident has died at Greenwood Court in Stratford, Ont., from COVID-19, public health officials say. The person was in their 80s.
