Public health says home has 6 confirmed cases in residents and 5 in staff
A person in their 80s who lived at Greenwood Court in Stratford, Ont. has died of COVID-19, according to Huron Perth Public Health.
The individual became sick with COVID-19 symptoms on April 3, the health unit said in a release on Saturday.
There are six confirmed cases in residents at the home as well as five cases in staff, public health said.
Medical officer of health Dr. Miriam Klassen said in the release that all the residents with the virus are being cared for at the home and none have been taken to hospital. The health unit said it's working with officials at the home on infection control measures.
"We know how serious this infection can be for our vulnerable populations, including our seniors in long-term care homes and in those with underlying health conditions," Klassen said.
There is also one case of COVID-19 at Hillside Manor near Sebringville, public health noted.
