N.S. boosts funding for food banks, income assistance and bans evictions related to COVID-19

Province announces it is giving $1 million to Feed Nova Scotia and increases income assistance by $50 per recipient amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Stephen McNeil announced Thursday that no tenants in Nova Scotia can be evicted due to lack of income owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health authority says there was possible COVID-19 exposure at 2 Halifax locations

The Nova Scotia Health Authority says there was a potential risk of public exposure to COVID-19 at at the Halifax Grammar School gymnasium and the Homburg Athletic Centre gymnasium between Thursday, March 5 and Saturday, March 7.

'Overwhelming': Nova Scotians stuck in Peru call for emergency flights home

Three Halifax men are trying to keep their spirits up as they deal with military law from a shared hotel room in southern Peru. Ian Melanson, Jordan Taggart, and Neal Andreino are stuck dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in the South American country unless Canada sends in emergency planes.

Businesses wade into 'scary' unknown as uncertainty takes hold

The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is part of a new business group that has been formed to try and steer local businesses through the economic turmoil brought on by COVID-19.

1,100 Irving Shipyard workers being temporarily laid off

One of Nova Scotia's largest employers has decided to send home most of its workforce. Irving Shipbuilding is temporarily laying off 1,100 workers as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
