Grey Bruce has its first two confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to the area's health unit.
The two patients are a 58-year-old male and a 58-year-old female, and it's believed the related couple contracted the virus on board a cruise ship.
"As appropriate infection control measures were followed, this first case does not change the overall low likelihood of individuals in Grey Bruce catching the virus," said Dr. Ian Arra, medical officer of health for the Grey Bruce Health Unit, in an online statement.
The health unit said the couple was notified through contact tracing from a confirmed case on a cruise ship, and they presented to a healthcare facility that ordered testing.
Both the male and female are residents of Grey Bruce and remain in self-isolation at home.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit said they are looking into any potential contacts the couple may have had.
"Residents should continue to protect themselves and others around them from the spread of germs and viruses by taking the usual precautions including frequent hand washing," Dr. Arra said.
