The Dose with Dr. Brian Goldman(external link) is a new weekly series that demystifies health news by tackling popular questions like: What vaccines do adults really need? Does your Fitbit actually make you fitter? Or, should I bother taking vitamins? The Dose cuts through the confusion and delivers straightforward advice in about as much time as an appointment with your doctor.

Goldman hosts the award-winning CBC Radio One program White Coat Black Art(external link) and is the bestselling author of The Night Shift: Real Life in the Heart of the ER. His latest book — The Power of Kindness: Why Empathy is Essential in Everyday Life — is a cri de coeur for greater empathy in healthcare and in the world.
Goldman and the folks behind White Coat Black Art(external link) have teamed up with CBC Podcasts(external link) to launch The Dose(external link) in late February.
The first episode dives into BMI and whether it's an effective way to diagnose obesity or even assess one's health. Goldman speaks with Dr. Arya M. Sharma, Scientific Director of the Canadian Obesity Network, to find out.
The Dose(external link) releases new episodes on Thursdays starting Feb. 20.
