The murder trial for the man accused of throwing a trailer hitch at an Indigenous woman in Thunder Bay has been delayed.

Brayden Bushby, is charged with second degree murder for allegedly tossing the hitch from a passing vehicle in January 2017, striking a woman walking along a south side residential street.

Brayden Bushby was initially charged with aggravated assault, accused of throwing a metal trailer hitch from a moving vehicle which struck 34-year-old Barbara Kentner. Kentner died in July and Bushby's charge was subsequently upgraded to second degree murder.

The man accused of throwing a trailer hitch at an Indigenous woman in Thunder Bay, Ont., is now charged with second degree murder.

Jeffrey Tomagatick was sentenced to seven years in prison for manslaughter, less credit for time already served, in the death of Murray Keesic in September 2012.

A First Nations woman who was hit by a trailer hitch, thrown from a passing car in Thunder Bay, Ont., last January, has died.

The woman struck by the trailer hitch, 34-year-old Barbara Kentner, died less than six months later.

At a Tuesday court appearance, the three-week trial was rescheduled to start in April.
