A planned power outage in Summerside, P.E.I., did not go as hoped Monday morning.

Summerside Electric had announced maintenance work that would require a three-hour outage, from midnight to 3 a.m., for parts of the city.

But during the work a faulty switch was discovered. The switch required immediate repairs, which meant cutting power to the whole city for about an hour.

Fixing the switch meant the scheduled work was not completed. The utility will be scheduling another power outage for that work to be done.

City reconsidering no-parking stickers some finding confusing

The City of Charlottetown is reviewing the no-parking stickers that have been put on some meters on Queen Street downtown after hearing they're causing some confusion.

P.E.I. school prepares to fire up new biomass heating system

Students at West Royalty Elementary School in Charlottetown will be feeling the heat from something new as the temperatures drop this winter. It's part of a wave of public buildings across P.E.I., including five schools, being converted to biomass heating systems in 2019.
