Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent was closed over the long weekend after strong winds pushed water onto the road and properties in the area. 

Chatham-Kent Coun. Trevor Thompson said he's seen pushed in patio doors, houses filled up with water and backed up septic systems along Erie Shore Drive.

A shoreline study has been underway to develop a long-term plan for flooding on Erie Shore Drive.

At its worst, spray from waves could be seen shooting about 12 meters above homes along Lake Erie in Chatham-Kent early Sunday morning.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) has issued a flood warning and a gale warning until Monday, but officials are only&nbsp;expecting things to&nbsp;worsen on Friday.

"The November gales are just beginning," said Jason Homewood,&nbsp;water resources and regulations technician with the LTVCA.

Back in August, residents along this stretch of road that borders Lake Erie got hit hard too. Chatham-Kent declared a state of emergency.

Of the 40 households affected by flooding in Chatham-Kent, 10 households have chosen not to evacuate.

Chatham-Kent Coun. Trevor Thompson said portions of Erie Shore Drive are a "war zone" Wednesday, saying resident reactions to property damage are mixed.

Chatham-Kent's Erie Shore Drive is flooding again

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) issued a flood warning Tuesday for Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent.

This time, the municipality has placed large cement blocks along most of Erie Shore Drive, turning it into a temporary one-way street.

One home along Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent is being damaged by each wave coming off Lake Erie, and a small trailer is tipping into the water.
