Alex Cuba is a Cuban-born singer and musician based in British Columbia. He has twice won Juno Awards(external link) for world music album of the year and in 2019 released his seventh album, titled Sublime.
He is a huge reader and dropped by The Next Chapter(external link) to talk about reading Hippie by Paulo Coelho.
"The book I'm reading is Hippie by Paulo Coelho. It's about hitchhiking from Brazil to pretty much the whole entire world. Paulo Coelho, as a young man, decided to go on this journey.
"The book is just magical. Anything that Paulo writes is magical to read. I think he's one of my favourite authors for that reason. The way he plays with words sounds like music to me. It's so beautiful. It's a very inspiring book."
Alex Cuba's comments have been edited for length and clarity.
