The fall lobster season has wrapped up on P.E.I. and some&nbsp;fishermen say they're pleased with the season.

Prices were up over last year at $5 for canners&nbsp;and $5.50 for market lobsters.&nbsp;Lee Knox, president of the Prince County Fishermen's Association, said last year, shore&nbsp;prices were $4.25 for canners and $4.75 for market lobsters.

Prices up for P.E.I. lobster compared to last year's fall season

Fishermen on Prince Edward Island are getting better prices for lobster than last year's fall season, according to the vice president of the Prince County Fishermen's Association.

Only another lobster could find another lobster attractive, but despite being kind of ugly they are high on the menu of many people and those people are waiting eagerly for the first of the season to hit the stores and restaurants.

'Last year when we stopped, there was a lot of small ones. Now they seemed like they shed and they are getting to a very good quality now,' says Shelton Barlow, vice president of the Prince County fishermen's association.

Lobster prices could be better says P.E.I. marketing group

The group that markets P.E.I. lobster says this year's price is good, but could be better.

'If you look at Newfoundland and the Magdalen Islands both have a price setting board and they negotiate that price in March and April,' says Charlie MacGeoghegan chair of the Lobster Fishers of P.E.I. Marketing Board.

Knox also said landings were good, despite some windy weather.

"In the last week of fishing there was quite a few days missed because of&nbsp;wind but we roll with the weather," Knox said. "Some guys fished and some didn't."

Knox said&nbsp;218 fishermen from North Cape to Victoria take part in the fall lobster fishery.

New, safer school entrance coming with Cornwall bypass

When the Cornwall bypass opens on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Charlottetown later this month, the province will also open a new entrance to Eliot River School that it says will improve safety.
