Kitchener's interim consumption and treatment services site is set to open Oct.15&nbsp;

The site will be located at 150 Duke St. in downtown Kitchener.

Health workers with Sanguen Health Centre and the Region of Waterloo Public Health have been working together to implement the interim service model.

The interim supervised consumption site in Kitchener will go at 150 Duke St., which is the same location a permanent site will use when it starts later this year.

This commercial building at 150 Duke St. W. could be the future home of Waterloo region's first supervised consumption site. It was chosen out of a possible three locations in Kitchener.

The building at 150 Duke St. W., in Kitchener is expected to house a temporary supervised consumption site for about six months starting by the end of August. Then, six months later, the same site should be ready to become a permanent supervised consumption site, regional staff say.

Staff, along&nbsp;with the Waterloo Regional Police Service, held an&nbsp;open house&nbsp;at the&nbsp;Church of St. John the Evangelist in Kitchener Monday and Tuesday.

The permanent consumption and treatment services site&nbsp;is scheduled to begin operating in February 2020.

The Interim Consumption and Treatment Services site in downtown Kitchener will open October 15.
