The new riding of Springfield-Ritchot was created in the 2018 riding redistribution, taking in pieces of the ridings of St. Paul, Dawson Trail, Morris and La Vérendrye.
The riding surrounds the east side of Winnipeg, including the communities of Oakbank, Dugald, St. Adolphe, Niverville, Ste. Agathe and Melrose.
The riding's population is 21,985, according to the province's 2018 riding profile (compiled from the 2016 census).
The median age of the riding is slightly below the provincial median, at 37.4 in Springfield-Ritchot compared to 38.3 provincewide, according to the 2018 riding profile and the 2016 census. The census found the median household income in the area is $99,337.

- Just over four per cent of residents reported they speak French most often at home in the 2016 census, according to the 2018 riding profile.
- Just over seven per cent of residents identified as immigrants, the profile says.
- The median value of a home in the riding is $349,406, the profile says, and more than 90 per cent of residents reported they own their home.

The nominated candidates for the 2019 election are:
- Garrett Hawgood (Green Party).
- Sara Mirwaldt (Liberal).
- Sam Okoi (NDP).
- Ron Schuler (Progressive Conservative).
Candidates become official when they meet criteria set out in the province's Elections Act, including providing a statement of disclosure. In Springfield-Ritchot, all candidates are official.
