The southeastern Manitoba riding of La Vérendrye was created in 1879, making it one of the oldest in the province.
Its boundaries have changed a lot in the meantime, including in the most recent redistribution last year. The updated riding is bounded to the west by the Manitoba-Ontario border and to the south by the Manitoba-U.S. border.
The riding includes Grunthal, Sandilands, Woodridge, Vita, St. Pierre-Joly, New Bothwell and La Broquerie.
The riding's population is 23,315, according to the province's 2018 riding profile (compiled from the 2016 census).
The median age of the riding is younger than the overall provincial median, at 32.4 compared to 38.3 provincewide, according to the 2018 riding profile and the 2016 census. The census found the median household income in the area is $66,324.
