The northeast Winnipeg riding of Concordia has been around since 1981. The residential riding includes Valley Gardens, Braeside, Elmwood and East Elmwood neighbourhoods.
New boundaries implemented for this election include McLeod Avenue to the north and the CN Redditt rail line to the south. The riding is bounded by Molson Street, Panet Road, Regent Avenue West and Lagimodiere Boulevard in the east and Raleigh Street and the CPR Emerson rail line in the west.
The area has been in headlines in recent months thanks to Winnipeggers protesting the closure of the emergency department at Concordia Hospital in June.
Its population is 21,175, according to the province's 2018 riding profile (compiled from the 2016 census).
The median age of the riding is just below the overall provincial median, at 36.8 in Concordia compared to 38.3 provincewide, according to the 2018 riding profile and the 2016 census. The census found the median household income in the area is $61,633.
