Manitoba votes 2019: Elmwood riding profile

The modern Elmwood riding has been around since the 1958 provincial general election. The riding has voted NDP in every general election since 1962 — and before that, it voted for the party's predecessor, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation.
The riding is bounded on the west and most of the south by the Red River, with the remainder of the southern boundary running along the Canadian Pacific Railway Keewatin line. To the east, it's bounded by Raleigh Street. Its northern boundary runs from Rossmere Crescent along Henderson Highway, McLeod Avenue, Roch Street and Anderson Park.
The riding includes the neighbourhoods of Rossmere, East Kildonan and West Elmwood.
Its population is 22,225, according to the province's 2018 riding profile(external link) (compiled from the 2016 census).
The median age of the riding is close to the overall provincial median, at 37.3 compared to 38.3 provincewide, according to the 2018 riding profile(external link) and the 2016 census(external link). The census found the median household income in the area is $59,105.

  • Jim Maloway (NDP).
  • Regan Wolfrom (Liberal).
