Ottawa police say an 18-year-old man was shot in the Britannia area early Thursday morning.
Several 911 calls about gunshots came in starting at about 12:40 a.m. from Ritchie Street near Carling Avenue, police said in a news release.
The victim was shot once and is expected to survive.
Officers are still investigating, and no arrests have been made.
Bay ward Coun. Theresa Kavanagh, who represents the area, said Thursday that she had met with parents, police and community leaders last week about safety in the neighbourhood after a daytime shooting in the area in June.
