TransLink&nbsp;previewed the look of its double-decker buses on social media this weekend.

The bright blue buses — 32 in total — will join the fleet&nbsp;

after a&nbsp;successful four-month pilot project

The double-decker buses garnered praise from customers and drivers alike during a successful four-month pilot project completed in 2018.

At the time, the&nbsp;regional transportation authority said the pilot garnered "overwhelmingly positive feedback" from customers who praised the "smooth ride"&nbsp;and bus drivers who spoke highly of&nbsp;the buses' drivability.&nbsp;

TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond said a full-length Surrey-Langley SkyTrain would cost $3.12 billion but only $1.6 billion is currently available. 

TransLink says there is only enough money to begin construction for a SkyTrain extension along to Langley until 166th Street in the Fleetwood neighbourhood.

A recently released report from the Washington state Department of Transportation estimated a high-speed line, with speeds of up to 354 kilometres an hour, would cost between $24 and $42 billion US but did not break down potential cost-sharing possibilities between the various levels of government. 

TransLink has billions of dollars in planned new transit projects that funding from other levels of government.

Specific routes for the buses have not yet been announced, but during&nbsp;the pilot project the buses served long-haul routes in&nbsp;Vancouver, Langley, Surrey, White Rock and Delta.&nbsp;&nbsp;

TransLink says the&nbsp;buses will hit Metro Vancouver streets in the fall after inspection and testing.&nbsp;

The double-decker buses have twice the capacity as a regular bus and feature panoramic views from the top deck.
