What did Canadian peacekeepers accomplish in Mali?

The UN's peacekeeping mission in Mali is one of the deadliest in recent history, as the country grapples with Islamist violence and other challenges. Canada has been part of the effort since last year.
"Organized crime, smuggling, drug trafficking, human trafficking, terrorism — you can sort of name it, and Mali is afflicted by it," said journalist Richard Poplak.
As Canada's participation in the Mali mission draws to a close, Poplak talks to guest host Michelle Shephard about whether the mission made good on Ottawa's promise to return to peacekeeping.
