In April, CBC Windsor introduced you to Leo Silvestri, a man on a mission to save monarch butterflies.
Silvestri has convinced both LaSalle and Windsor to plant more milkweed — the plant that monarchs lay eggs on, as well as the plant monarchs eat as caterpillars.
CBC checked in with Sivlestri to see how the monarchs have been doing — and he's been busy.
Silvestri is releasing monarchs on a daily basis these days and feeding hungry caterpillars a lot of milkweed. He said that for local butterfly lovers who want to plant milkweed, make sure you plant as much as you can.
"When you get eggs, then caterpillars, they are very hungry and need multiple plants to eat," said Silvestri.
