Two men have died from injuries they suffered in an ultralight plane crash in Rougemont, in the Montérégie region, on Monday morning.
The Sûreté du Québec said they received a call about the crash in an orchard at around 11:30 a.m.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and used the Jaws of Life to extract the men from the wreckage.
The two men — one a 51-year-old from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and the other a 66-year-old from Mont-Saint-Grégoire — were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Late in the afternoon, police announced the men had died.
The owner of the orchard in which the crash occurred said the aircraft had flown over several times beforehand.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by staff from Canada's Transportation Safety Board as well as members of the provincial police major crimes unit.
