When Brent Butt was starting out in comedy, he felt all of the Canadian clichés and stereotypes were getting pretty tired, so he created something new — a sitcom called Corner Gas.

In the show, Butt plays the owner of a gas station in the sleepy, fictional town of Dog River, Sask. It quickly became one of this country's greatest comedies because it gave a voice to some of the realer aspects of Canadian life.

Corner Gas ran for six seasons, was adapted into a successful movie and now it's found new life yet again as a cartoon. Corner Gas Animated returns for its second season on July 1, Canada Day.

Butt joined q's Tom Power to tell us more about keeping his comedy Canadian and why he thinks audiences keep coming back to Dog River.
