Toronto's Justyn Knight wants strong finish in Diamond League debut

World championship-bound Justyn Knight will set out to accomplish his next goal of setting a personal-best time in the 5,000 metres, starting Thursday when the 22-year-old makes his Diamond League debut at the Golden Gala in Rome (CBCSports.ca, 2 p.m. ET).

Former NCAA star Justyn Knight of Toronto will make his Diamond League debut at Thursday's 39th edition of the Golden Gala in Rome. The 22-year-old now runs for Reebok Boston Track Club.

Aaron Brown tops Andre De Grasse at 200m showdown in Shanghai

It was a Canadian 1-2 finish in the men's 200-metre race at the Shanghai Diamond League event on Saturday. Aaron Brown edged teammate Andre De Grasse for the win in a showdown between the country's two top sprinters.

Mohammed Ahmed, from St. Catharines, Ont., capped off a stellar season with a first place finish in the 5000-metre crossing the line ahead of Vancouver's Lucas Bruchet. Both will be headed to Rio. Ahmed will also compete in the 10,000-metre.
