Charlottetown city council said no Monday night to a proposal for a residential development on Brackley Point Road.

The development would have included a 30-unit, three-storey apartment building and 17 townhouses.

A controversial development in the Sherwood neighbourhood of Charlottetown may be stopped if city council agrees with the recommendation of its planning board.

The proposed development is at 88 Brackley Point Road in Sherwood.

Neighbours packed a public meeting held last month to speak out against the proposal. They also presented a petition with more than 300 signatures.

The neighbours felt the plan didn't fit the neighbourhood and worried about traffic close to Stonepark School.

Council voted unanimously to reject the proposal.

Gas prices up on P.E.I.

The price of gas on P.E.I. was up overnight in an unscheduled price change from the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.

The price of gas is up almost 25 cents since Feb. 1.
