Canada Reads(external link) is CBC's annual battle of the books, a showdown to pick one book every Canadian should read. This year's theme was "one book to move you" and after a week of intense debate, that book has emerged.
The winning book is By Chance Alone by Max Eisen, championed by science journalist Ziya Tong.

The book tells the true story of how Eisen survived the Holocaust after being sent to Auschwitz at age 15. He's dedicated the last 22 years to educating others about the Holocaust.
They joined host Tom Power in the q studio to talk about Eisen's moving story and what Canadians can learn from his memoir.
