The beautiful thing about podcasting is that the medium is so accessible that it can serve even the most specific, niche subject matter.
Inspired by our recent guest Ian Chillag's recommendation of the hyper-specific People Movers Podcast(external link), which is exclusively devoted to the topic of escalators, their design, and the impact they have on society, we've put together a list of some of the quirkiest, most niche podcasts we've encountered.

Iditapod(external link)
The brilliantly named Iditapod podcast from Alaska Public Media has been produced during the Iditarod for the past three years, reporting on stories from the giant sled race and interviewing mushers and racing teams.
The Beef and Dairy Network Podcast(external link)
A fictional comedy podcast about the cattle industry, complete with fake ads and questionable advice about how to keep your bull.
Can I Pet Your Dog?(external link)
A podcast for the unapologetically dog-obsessed. Each week, hosts Allegra Ringo and Renee Colvert discuss their recent dog encounters, highlight a breed in the "mutt minute," interview a dog-lover, and generally report on dog news. (Also, their theme song is adorable.)
The Pen Addict(external link)
Stationary obsessives Brad Dowdy and Myke Hurley spend upwards of an hour (seriously) every episode discussing pens, pencils and paper.
The Chameleon Breeder(external link)
Do you have a chameleon? Do you want a chameleon? This podcast is all about the art and science of keeping chameleons.
Dafriend or Dafoe(external link)
A well-named example of the popular subgenre of hyperspecific film podcasts that examine the oeuvre of a single actor, each episode of Dafriend or Dafoe examines a different movie featuring Willem Dafoe and asks "Is he playing da friend or da foe?" Dafoe isn't the only actor whose filmography has received this treatment. There's also Mike Check(external link), What About Meryl?(external link), and the hyperbolically titled Denzel Washington is the Greatest Actor of All Time Period(external link).
