One man is 28, the other is 35, say police
Two inmates at the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre were rushed to hospital overnight, police say, after a pair of suspected drug overdoses.
One was a 28-year-old man and the other a 35-year-old man, according to Const. Jerome Stewart.
Police say both men were from Hamilton have since returned to the Barton jail.
Details about the suspected overdoses came after an judge Tony Leitch mentioned in court Tuesday morning that prisoner transports had been delayed because of a "couple of overdoses."
There have been more than a dozen inmate deaths at the Hamilton jail since 2010, with the most recent happening on March 21.
The families of men who died behind the high, orange-brick walls have held protests outside for the past two weekends, calling for changes to keep inmates safe.
