A 30-year-old Charlottetown man has been charged after two groups of protestors clashed in Charlottetown on the weekend.

Charlottetown police responded to call in front of the Jean Canfield&nbsp;federal building on Great George Street around 11 a.m. Saturday.

Climate change protesters march through Charlottetown

A group of people marched through Charlottetown Friday afternoon in a protest to call for action on climate change.

Protesters marched through Charlottetown chanting, 'What do we want? Climate justice. When do we want it? Now.'

Deputy police chief Brad MacConnell said&nbsp;members of a P.E.I. yellow vest group were protesting when an altercation occurred between them and counter-protesters. He said he did not know the number of people involved.&nbsp;

Police have charged one of the counter-protestors with assault and damage to property.

The man is scheduled to appear in court next month.

No one was injured in the incident, MacConnell said.

Off-duty police officer makes shoplifting arrest

A Summerside, P.E.I., man is facing charges after he was arrested Saturday by an off-duty police officer.

Îles de la Madeleine ferry returns to P.E.I. port

The Îles de la Madeleine ferry, which connects the Quebec archipelago in the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the rest of Canada, has resumed service out of Souris, P.E.I.

Dr. Heather Morrison, the province’s chief public health officer, says 15 cars were approved for essential travel and were allowed to drive through Prince Edward Island to the Magdalen Islands ferry so far this month.

During the winter the ferry runs three times a week.
