Alcohol, speed were not factors in crash that killed 2 pedestrians: police

Collision killed 67-year-old woman and 64-year-old man on Christmas Eve day

Police say alcohol, speed and drugs are not considered factors in a crash that killed two pedestrians in northwest Calgary the day before Christmas.
Shortly before noon on Monday, emergency crews were called to the intersection of John Laurie Boulevard and Hawkwood Drive N.W. for reports of a fatal collision.
Police say two pedestrians were crossing John Laurie Boulevard when a Toyota 4Runner travelling south on Hawkwood Drive made a left turn onto John Laurie.
A 67-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene. A 64-year-old man was rushed to Foothills hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The woman driving the SUV was not hurt.
Police have not released the names of the two pedestrians killed.
